The Thread of Life (1960)

The Thread of Life is a  1960 educational film that Shows the development of the science of genetics, beginning with the cross-pollination experiments by Gregor Mendel in the middle of the nineteenth century through recent findings on genes, chromosomes and the chemical substance DNA.
This film was part of The Bell Laboratory Science Series which was a series of educational films made for Bell Labs by Frank Capra, Walt Disney, and others. Each film explored a single subject in detail. The host of the first eight films was Dr. Research, played by Frank C. Baxter. The host for the last film in the series was Walt Disney. Each movie intertwined animation and live action to better explain the complexity of a particular subject. These films where shown to millions of school kids during the 50's 60's and 70's.
